6 Days Serengeti, Ngorongoro And Tarangire Safari Price 2026-2027

A 6-day safari combining Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park in 2026-2027 typically ranges from $2,000 to $6,000+ per person, depending heavily on accommodation style (budget, mid-range, or luxury), private vs. shared tour options, time of year, and specific inclusions. This price generally covers park entry fees, accommodation, meals, a safari vehicle, a professional guide, and internal transfers, but it’s crucial to get a detailed quote tailored to your preferences.

Understanding the Cost of Your 6-Day Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire Safari in 2026-2027

Planning a Tanzanian safari is an exciting endeavor, and for many, the primary question revolves around the 6 days Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire safari price. This popular itinerary offers an unparalleled wildlife experience, showcasing the diverse ecosystems and iconic species of northern Tanzania. However, the cost can vary significantly. As you look towards 2026 and 2027, understanding the factors that influence pricing is key to budgeting effectively and securing the adventure of a lifetime without unwelcome surprises.

This comprehensive guide will break down the typical cost structure, highlight what’s usually included, explain the variables that drive the price up or down, and offer advice on how to get the most value for your investment in a 2026 or 2027 safari.

Key Factors Influencing Your Safari Price

Several elements combine to determine the final cost of your 6-day Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire safari. Recognizing these will help you tailor your trip to your budget and expectations.

  • Accommodation Level: This is arguably the biggest differentiator. Options range from basic tented camps and budget lodges to opulent lodges and tented camps with amenities rivaling luxury hotels. Higher-end accommodations mean higher nightly rates, directly impacting your overall safari price.
  • Group Size and Tour Type: Are you traveling solo, as a couple, a family, or a larger group? Opting for a private safari guarantees your own vehicle and guide, offering flexibility but typically costing more per person. Conversely, joining a shared or group safari can significantly reduce costs by distributing expenses among travelers.
  • Time of Year (Seasonality): Tanzania experiences distinct seasons. High season (roughly June to October and December to February) often sees higher prices due to increased demand and favorable weather for wildlife viewing. Low season (March to May, with the exception of the long rains) can offer more competitive pricing, though some lodges may have limited availability.
  • Inclusions and Exclusions: What’s covered in your package? Standard inclusions often include park fees, accommodation, meals, vehicle, and guide. However, extras like alcoholic beverages, tips, personal insurance, and optional activities (e.g., hot air balloon safaris) can add to the final bill.
  • Vehicle Type: While most standard safaris use reliable 4×4 Land Cruisers, some higher-end packages might offer specialized vehicles or amenities, which can influence the price.
  • Tour Operator: Different tour operators have varying overheads, pricing structures, and profit margins. Comparing quotes from reputable companies is essential. Top Guide Adventures, for instance, prides itself on offering competitive pricing while maintaining high service standards for your 2026-2027 safari.

Typical Price Range for a 6-Day Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire Safari (2026-2027)

To provide a clearer picture for your 2026-2027 travel plans, here’s a general breakdown of price ranges per person, based on double occupancy:

Budget Safaris

Approx. $2,000 – $3,000 per person: These safaris focus on value, utilizing comfortable but simpler accommodations like public campsites or basic tented camps, and often involve group or shared tours. Meals are typically provided at lodges/camps or as packed lunches.

Mid-Range Safaris

Approx. $3,000 – $4,500 per person: This is the most popular category, offering a balance of comfort and quality. Expect well-appointed lodges and tented camps with en-suite facilities, excellent food, and a higher level of service. These can be private or small group tours.

Luxury Safaris

Approx. $4,500 – $6,000+ per person: For those seeking premium comfort and exclusivity, luxury safaris feature high-end lodges and exclusive tented camps, gourmet dining, personalized service, and often include extras like select drinks or laundry. Private tours are standard in this category.

Note: These figures are estimates for 2026-2027 and can fluctuate. Solo travelers will generally incur a single supplement fee, increasing the per-person cost. Children’s pricing also varies.

What’s Typically Included in the 6-Day Safari Price?

When you receive a quote for your 6-day Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire safari, ensure it covers the essentials for a comfortable and comprehensive experience. Reputable operators like Top Guide Adventures will clearly outline these inclusions.

  • Park Entrance Fees: This is a significant portion of the safari cost. It includes entry into Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area (including the crater fee), and Tarangire National Park. Fees are subject to change by the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) and Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) for 2026-2027.
  • Accommodation: Nights spent at lodges or tented camps as per your chosen itinerary and budget. This usually includes dinner, bed, and breakfast, or full board depending on the package.
  • Meals: Typically includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For full-day game drives, packed lunches are provided. Specifics can vary, so clarify if drinks are included.
  • Safari Vehicle & Driver Guide: A well-maintained 4×4 safari vehicle (usually a Land Cruiser) equipped with a pop-up roof for optimal game viewing and photography. You’ll have an experienced, English-speaking driver-guide dedicated to your safari. For private tours, this vehicle is exclusively for your group.
  • Airport Transfers: Transfers from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport to your starting hotel and back at the end of the safari.
  • Bottled Water: Usually provided daily in the safari vehicle.
  • Crater Service Fee: Specific fee for descending into the Ngorongoro Crater.
  • Conservation Fees: Various conservation fees applicable to the different park areas.

Potential Additional Costs to Budget For

While the core safari package covers the essentials, it’s wise to budget for these potential extras to avoid surprises during your 2026-2027 trip:

  • International Flights: Flights to and from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) are not typically included in safari packages.
  • Visa Fees: Depending on your nationality, a Tanzanian visa may be required.
  • Travel Insurance: Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage is highly recommended.
  • Gratuities/Tips: Tipping your driver-guide and camp/lodge staff is customary and appreciated for good service. Budget approximately $20-$30 per person per day for the guide and $10-$15 per person per day for lodge staff.
  • Drinks: While bottled water is usually included, alcoholic and other soft drinks at lodges and camps are often at your own expense.
  • Optional Activities: Activities like hot air balloon safaris in the Serengeti (a fantastic experience, but costly), cultural village visits, or guided walking safaris (where permitted) are usually add-ons.
  • Personal Expenses: Souvenirs, laundry services (if not included), and personal items.
  • Vaccinations & Medications: Consult your doctor regarding necessary vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis.

The 6-Day Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire Itinerary: A Day-by-Day Breakdown Affecting Price

The sequence of parks visited and the number of nights spent in each can influence the overall cost and the richness of your wildlife encounters. A typical 6-day itinerary might look like this, with price implications noted:

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha & Transfer to Tarangire National Park

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you’ll be met by your Top Guide Adventures representative and transferred to Arusha for a brief orientation or directly to Tarangire National Park (approx. 2-3 hours drive). The transfer cost is usually included. The park fees for Tarangire are applied from Day 1.

Focus: Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, baobab trees, and diverse birdlife. A full afternoon game drive is usually included.

Accommodation: Lodge or Tented Camp in or near Tarangire.

Price Implication: Tarangire park fees are generally lower than Serengeti but still a significant component.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park & Transfer to Ngorongoro Highlands

Enjoy a morning game drive in Tarangire, perhaps focusing on areas you didn’t cover on Day 1, before beginning your journey towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You’ll typically stay at a lodge on the crater rim or in the nearby highlands, offering stunning views.

Focus: Maximizing wildlife viewing in Tarangire before heading to the cooler highlands.

Accommodation: Lodge or Tented Camp in the Ngorongoro Highlands.

Price Implication: The accommodation choice in the Ngorongoro highlands can vary in price; rim lodges are often premium.

Day 3: Full Day Ngorongoro Crater Tour

Descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of game viewing. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a caldera teeming with wildlife, including the rare black rhino, large prides of lions, cheetahs, elephants, and hippos. A picnic lunch is usually enjoyed within the crater.

Focus: Intensive wildlife spotting within the unique crater ecosystem.

Accommodation: Same as Day 2, Ngorongoro Highlands.

Price Implication: Ngorongoro Crater fees are substantial and contribute significantly to the daily cost. The full-day experience means maximizing the value of these fees.

Day 4: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you’ll drive to the legendary Serengeti National Park. The route often includes a stop at Olduvai Gorge (optional, with an extra fee) for a glimpse into early human history. You’ll likely enter the Serengeti via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, potentially encountering wildlife en route.

Focus: Transitioning to the vast plains of the Serengeti, known for the Great Migration (seasonal) and exceptional predator sightings.

Accommodation: Lodge or Tented Camp in Central Serengeti (Seronera area) or depending on migration patterns.

Price Implication: Serengeti park fees are the highest and are a major component of the total safari cost. Accommodation within the Serengeti is also generally more expensive than in Tarangire or the Ngorongoro highlands.

Day 5: Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park

Spend the entire day exploring the Serengeti’s diverse landscapes. Depending on the time of year (2026-2027), your guide will position you to witness the Great Migration or focus on resident wildlife populations known for their abundance in areas like Seronera.

Focus: Experiencing the vastness and incredible wildlife density of the Serengeti.

Accommodation: Same as Day 4, Serengeti National Park.

Price Implication: Two full days in Serengeti means two sets of Serengeti park fees, significantly impacting the overall budget.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive & Departure

Enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti before heading back towards Arusha. Depending on your flight schedule, you might drive directly to the airstrip for a flight back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro, or undertake the longer road journey. The cost of the transfer back is included.

Focus: Last chance for wildlife sightings and a scenic journey back.

Price Implication: The choice between a flight (more expensive but time-saving) and a road transfer back to Arusha can affect the final day’s logistics and cost.

Comparing Safari Prices: Private vs. Group Tours

When evaluating the 6 days Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire safari price, understanding the difference between private and group tours is crucial for budgeting and experience.

Private Safari

Pros: Maximum flexibility in itinerary and pace, exclusive use of the safari vehicle and guide, ability to customize game drives, ideal for families or groups wanting privacy. You set the schedule.

Cons: Higher cost per person, especially for smaller groups (1-2 people).

Price Impact: Expect the higher end of the estimated ranges, particularly for 2026-2027 bookings where demand might be high.

Group/Shared Safari

Pros: Significantly more affordable due to shared costs (vehicle, guide, park fees sometimes), opportunity to meet other travelers.

Cons: Less flexibility (you follow a set itinerary and schedule), sharing the vehicle with strangers, potential for group dynamics to affect pace.

Price Impact: Falls into the lower to mid-range of the estimated prices. Ideal for budget-conscious solo travelers or couples looking to save money.

For a 6-day trip, a private safari offers a more personalized experience, allowing you to linger at sightings or change plans slightly if needed. However, for those on a tighter budget for their 2026-2027 adventure, a group tour is an excellent way to experience these incredible parks without breaking the bank.

The Impact of Seasonality on Safari Prices in 2026-2027

Choosing the right time to travel can significantly affect your safari budget. Tanzania’s seasons directly influence demand and, consequently, prices.

  • Peak Season (June – October, December – February): This is when the weather is generally dry and pleasant, and the Great Migration is often in the Serengeti. Demand is highest, leading to peak pricing for flights, accommodations, and sometimes even park fees. Booking well in advance for 2026 or 2027 is essential.
  • Shoulder Season (March – May, November): These periods offer a good balance. March to May often coincides with the “long rains,” which can make some roads challenging and reduce wildlife viewing in certain areas, but it also means fewer crowds and lower prices. November can be a transition month with variable weather.
  • Low Season (Generally April – May): This is the wettest period, especially April and May. While some areas might be less accessible, game viewing can still be excellent, particularly in the Ngorongoro Crater which is accessible year-round. Lodges often offer significant discounts during this time.

For a 6-day Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire safari, consider the shoulder seasons (like November or the early part of the dry season in June) for potentially better value in 2026-2027, while still enjoying fantastic wildlife viewing. However, if witnessing the Great Migration river crossings is a priority, peak season is often necessary, demanding a higher budget.

Choosing Your Accommodation: Budget, Mid-Range, or Luxury

Your choice of lodging is a primary driver of the 6 days Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire safari price. Here’s a look at what each category typically offers:

Budget Accommodation

  • Types: Public campsites (often shared facilities), basic tented camps with shared bathrooms, or simpler lodges.
  • Experience: Offers a more rustic and adventurous feel. Facilities are basic but clean and functional. Meals are usually simple but hearty.
  • Price Point: Contributes to the lower end of the estimated safari cost.

Mid-Range Accommodation

  • Types: Comfortable tented camps with en-suite bathrooms, private facilities, hot showers, and well-furnished interiors. Also includes comfortable lodges with good amenities.
  • Experience: A good balance of comfort, service, and authenticity. Expect good quality meals, attentive service, and a pleasant atmosphere after a day of game drives. This is where most travelers find excellent value for their 2026-2027 safari.
  • Price Point: Represents the most common safari price bracket.

Luxury Accommodation

  • Types: Exclusive tented camps and lodges offering spacious suites, private plunge pools, gourmet dining, fine wines, and impeccable personalized service.
  • Experience: Unparalleled comfort, privacy, and sophistication. Often includes unique touches like sundowners in scenic spots, private guides, or even exclusive-use vehicles.
  • Price Point: Places your safari at the higher end of the estimated cost.

When budgeting for 2026-2027, be specific about the type of accommodation you desire. Top Guide Adventures can guide you through options that match your comfort level and budget for each park visited on your 6-day itinerary.

Getting the Best Value: Tips for Your 2026-2027 Safari Booking

Maximizing the value of your safari investment is achievable with smart planning. Here are some tips for securing the best 6 days Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire safari price for your 2026-2027 trip:

  • Book in Advance: Especially for peak seasons in 2026-2027, booking 6-12 months ahead can secure better rates and availability, particularly for popular lodges.
  • Travel During Shoulder Seasons: As discussed, visiting during the shoulder or low seasons can lead to significant savings on accommodation and sometimes flights.
  • Consider Group Tours: If budget is a primary concern, shared safaris offer a cost-effective way to experience these parks.
  • Be Flexible with Dates: If your travel dates are flexible, you might be able to take advantage of slightly lower rates during less popular weeks.
  • Compare Multiple Quotes: Obtain detailed quotes from at least 2-3 reputable tour operators. Ensure you’re comparing apples to apples regarding inclusions and accommodation standards. Top Guide Adventures is happy to provide a detailed, transparent quote for your consideration.
  • Ask About Package Deals: Sometimes operators offer package deals that bundle flights, accommodation, and safari components for a better overall price.
  • Understand What’s Included: A cheaper quote might seem appealing, but it could be missing key elements like park fees or specific meals, leading to unexpected costs later.
  • Inquire About Local vs. International Operators: Local operators based in Tanzania, like Top Guide Adventures, often have lower overheads and a deeper understanding of local logistics, potentially offering better value.

Hot Air Balloon Safari in Serengeti: An Optional Splurge

No discussion of a Serengeti safari is complete without mentioning the hot air balloon experience. This is a truly magical way to see the vast plains and wildlife from above, especially during sunrise.

  • Cost: Typically ranges from $500 to $600 per person, often including a champagne breakfast upon landing.
  • Timing: Usually takes place early morning on one of your Serengeti days.
  • Booking: Can be booked in advance through your tour operator or directly with the balloon safari company.

While this adds a significant amount to your 6 days Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire safari price, many consider it a worthwhile splurge for the unforgettable perspective it offers. It’s an optional add-on for your 2026-2027 adventure.

Great Wildlife, but accommodation could be better
Sarah L. · Australia · 20 Jun 2026

Our 3 Days in Tarangire National Park were filled with incredible sights. We saw so many elephants, including large family groups, and the baobab trees are truly majestic. The park is beautiful and the wildlife viewing was top-notch. Our guide was very good at spotting animals and navigating the park. However, the lodge we stayed at for the two nights was a bit basic and not quite what we expected for the price. While the wildlife experience was 5-star, the lodging brought the overall rating down slightly. We enjoyed the park itself immensely and would recommend it, but perhaps look into different accommodation options if booking a similar package.

Great 4-Day Private Safari Experience
Maria K. · Germany · 21 Aug 2025

We booked a 4-day private safari from Arusha and had a very positive experience. Having a private vehicle and guide meant we could tailor our game drives to our interests, focusing more on predators one day and specific bird species the next. The flexibility was a huge plus. We visited Tarangire and Lake Manyara, both offering unique wildlife viewing opportunities. Communication with the company beforehand was excellent, and they were very accommodating. The price point felt fair for a private tour. A solid choice for personalized exploration.
